BORDER CROSSING

Please be aware that this information is correct as of January 5, 2007 but that documentation requirements for crossing between Canada and the United States may be revised in the near future.

If you are a U.S. citizen, you do not currently need a passport to enter into Canada or the U.S when traveling BY LAND OR SEA. However, you should carry proof of your citizenship, such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or naturalization, as well as a photo ID.

If you are a permanent resident of the U.S., you should bring your Permanent Resident Card (i.e. green card) with you.

Effective January 23, 2007 all people, including US citizens, traveling BY AIR between the United States and Canada will be required to present a valid US passport, Air Nexus card, or US Coast Guard Merchant Marine Document.

Please visit www.travel.state.gov or www.dhs.gov. For current information concerning entering or leaving Canada, please visit www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca.
