25 things to do under $25—Becker Farms & Vizcarra Vineyards
August 14, 2012 at 2:14 PM

Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards (3760 Quaker Road, Gasport, NY) is a fifth-generation family-owned fruit and vegetable farm that allows visitors of all ages to enjoy fresh produce and homemade baked goods and take part in events and festivals that celebrate nature’s bounty.
For over 100 years, the 340 acre farm has harvested fruits and vegetables such as apples, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries, and pumpkins. Visitors can pick their own in-season fruits and vegetables or purchase them at the farm’s market. The farm also sells homemade pies, doughnuts, jams and fudge along with fresh-baked cookies and ice cream.
Growing to accommodate the desires of its visitors, Becker Farms has become one of the leaders in agri-tourism inNiagaraCounty. In 2004, Vizcarra Vineyards was opened to the public. The winery is located in the farm’s main barn—one of the original buildings erected in 1843—and specializes in fruit wines. The outdoor patio overlooking the vineyard provides a scenic backdrop perfect for casual conversation and wine tasting.
The success of the winery inspired a new business venture, a micro-brewery called Becker Brewing Company. The brewery offers four hearty beers along with seasonal brews such as Blueberry Wheat and Pumpkin Ale, both available in the fall.
With park like picnic areas and plenty to see and do, Becker Farms is perfect for family outings. Kids will enjoy the playground area, petting zoo and gift shop and parents can appreciate the beautiful scenery while tasting unique wine and beer.
Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards is a fun-filled destination year-round, but many locals make a tradition of visiting during the fall for the annual events and festivals. Be sure to experience the haunted hay ride and pick your own apples and pumpkins!
