Gasport, N.Y.- Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards offer 100-mile radius meals, which feature only ingredients and items produced within 100-miles of their Niagara County farm.

There’s something special about walking out behind a kitchen to find a garden filled with herbs, spices vegetables and endless rows of vineyards and fields of apple and cherry trees.
And yes, the chicken coop just a few feet from your dinner table is where the eggs for your meal come from and that chicken roaming around the gardens… well you get the picture.
Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards are undertaking the tremendous initiative of providing the freshest meals, made from real ingredients, grown on their family-owned and operated farm, as well as products from farmers and suppliers within a 100-mile radius.
This field to table approach, which is dubbed "100-mile" meals is served in several courses underneath an elegant outdoor patio on the Vizcarra family's Gasport, N.Y. farm and winery.
From meatballs and strawberry salads to cream of asparagus soups to herb-roasted chicken sandwiches with caramelized onions and asparagus tips and swiss and mozzarella cheese. All of these items are paired with a sampling of wines made from grapes grown on the Vizcarra family property.
I don’t really consider myself much of a foodie, but being able to sample the herbs right out of the garden and then sample the finished product lets me appreciate where my meal comes from and not to mention the quality of the meal!
Amanda Vizcarra, who is the latest generation of Vizcarra’s to have a hand in running the property that has been in her family for more than 100 years said creating meals that include ingredients from within 100-miles takes tremendous coordination with different farms, as well as a focus on a quality product.
“We want to provide our guests with a tremendous experience, as well as an amazing final product,” she said. “it was the way my family had always made their meals—from what we have here on our farm and I just wanted to bring that to the public.”
In order to do so, Vizcarra must plan out each meal and corresponding ingredients and ensure she is able to obtain that item from a local producer. Everything from honey and protein (beef, pork, chicken, turkey) to beer and cheese, all must be planned out to put together all of the courses.
