Cambria, N.Y.- Longcliff Vineyard and Winery has opened the door to its tasting room which features picturesque views of the Niagara Escarpment.
A new winery located on a picturesque plot of land in eastern Niagara County has opened its doors for business following what seems to be decades worth of planning said owner Don DeMaison.
Longcliff Vineyard and Winery (3617 Lower Mountain Rd., Cambria, N.Y. 14132.) was first purchased by DeMaison in the 1970s and was exclusively used to produce grapes for Welch’s and other commercial grape growing operations.
DeMaison admitted through time those commercial grape contracts became scarce forcing him to take another direction with his farm.
“It was always a dream of mine to produce wines and share them with visitors to the area,” DeMaison said. Currently his winery, which opened its doors just after Thanksgiving offers the following varieties of wine: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Blau Frankish.
These wines are being featured in Longcliffs tasting room, which offer views offer wonderful views of the vineyard. With the wineries addition, the Niagara Wine Trail USA has grown to 16 member wineries and more information about tours and other properties can be found at http://www.niagarawinetrail.org/
