LOCKPORT, N.Y.- Enter photos of your trip to Niagara USA's Canal Region for the 2011 Erie Canalway Photo Contest. Winning entries to be featured in 2012 Calender.

The Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor Commission, a Federally established entity geared toward the promotion of the 524-mile canal system, is accepting photo entries through Sept. 8 for the 2011 Erie Canalway Photo Contest.
Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit prints and digital images in four contest categories: Bridges, Buildings and Locks; For the Fun of It; On the Water; The Nature of the Canal. Winning photos will be displayed in the 2012 Erie Canalway calendar.
Niagara USA is the gateway to the Erie Canal, as the historic Canalway begins in the City of North Tonawanda where it meets the Mighty Niagara River. The Lockport Locks allowed for boats to navigate uphill 60-feet through the Niagara Escarpment and on to the Great Lakes.
Photographs must be taken within the boundaries of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, which is comprised of the Erie, Oswego, Cayuga/Seneca, and Champlain Canals and surrounding communities.
Official contest rules and an entry form can be downloaded at www.eriecanalway.org.
