Niagara Falls, N.Y.- Check out a series of photographs from 1953 that were sent to us from Bloomington, Illinois

“Thanks for the memories.”

That’s how Janeene Raymond closed out a hand-written letter, stuffed in a standard manila mailing envelope labeled “Photos” that landed on my desk this morning.

After reading the short note, which briefly described Raymond’s 1953 family trip to Niagara Falls, I found approximately 12 black and white photos of Niagara Falls, the Maid of the Mist and Niagara Falls State Park.

Raymond, of Bloomington, Illinois said she found the photos in an old album and thought they were too valuable to throw away, so she sent them to us at the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corp.

The photos are simple, nothing too spectacular, similar to many I have seen in the past, but there was something about them, something about Raymond’s note, thanking us for the memories that really made me wonder how many memories have been made in Niagara Falls, how many old family photo albums have black and white photos of Niagara Falls and how many of us, me included have Niagara Falls to thank for so many memories.

In past blogs, I highlighted memories made this past summer in Niagara Falls, from marriage proposals to a four generation family vacation.

 Now, I am putting out a call for old photos highlighting everything from honeymoons and daredveils, to marriages and family vacations, I want to see them all!

So dig out your photo albums and share some of your old memories with us.
