Surprise on the Path by Kath Schifano

The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (NACC) will host the 10th annual Beyond the Barrel Art Exhibition June 21-August 24, 2014.

This exciting event will feature over 100 works by over 30 regional artists, in a variety of mediums, a solo exhibit of the art of Violet Gordon, and a special display of photography featuring the beauty of Niagara USA.

Beyond the Barrel has grown from being a small display of artwork in a former cafeteria to one of the area's best art shows. The exhibit attracts both artists and collectors to the former high school turned fine art gallery. This year the exhibit hosts sculpture from Susan Geissler, creator of the "Tuscarora Monument" in Lewiston, NY; art by Kath Schifano, Jonathon Rogers, and Bill Hines as well as fine art photography from Lenore Pawlowski, Tim Maloney, and Louie Zaninovich

The event has also been chosen to be the roll out of the much anticipated regional art project "Barrel Though Niagara" with an unveiling of the first completed sculpture by Cindy Sanchez. These barrel inspired sculptures will be placed throughout Niagara County in a show of regional pride similar to the display of bison in Buffalo.

The judges for this year's event will be three of the leader's in the Niagara USA art community. Marian Granfield, Jay Carrier and Gary Wolfe. For their complete bios, see below.

Meet some of the area's finest artists at the opening reception for the Beyond the Barrel, from 6 - 8 pm Sat., June 21, at the NACC. Enjoy music, food and wine.

The NACC Beyond the Barrel exhibition will be FREE and open to the public from June 21 to August 24, 2014, during regular gallery hours (Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday noon - 4 pm.
