With the recent mention in The New York Times as part of the '52 Places to Go in 2014,' The Griffon Pub & Restaurant (2470 Military Rd., Niagara Falls, NY) was a must on my to-do list.

Located in Niagara Falls USA, this new gastropub offers a unique, creative menu and over 50 beers on tap, a true haven for any beer connoisseur! So, what's a gastropub? It's a British term for a public house that specializes in serving high quality food. Whether you're in the mood for lunch, dinner or good ol' pub food, this is the place to go! I started with the ‘Food B4 Food' and decided on the fresh lobster and crab cakes; a mix of pulled lobster, lump blue crab, panko breadcrumbs, red and green peppers with a red pepper aioli swirl. Next up was one of the ‘Inventive Sandwiches,' the Panko Chicken, served with fresh-cut garlic Parmesan fries. Warning: If you're on a first date, I would highly suggest substituting the fries for another side - unless you have a toothbrush and plenty of gum on hand! My fiancée opted for the Chicken and Waffles - and he devoured the whole thing, with room to spare for dessert of course. All of the desserts are prepared daily in Lewiston, NY at The Village Bake Shoppe, except for the Pillows of Love. Yes, true love - in the form of fried dough balls, drizzled in chocolate and strawberry sauce.

Before you go, be sure to make reservations - this place is packed every night! For more information on their menu, beers on tap, or to get social with the Pub, visit, thegriffonpub.com.
