Vote Now - Old Falls Street's Wallenda Walk at Niagara Falls Side Show
September 18, 2012 at 10:53 AM
Old Falls Street USA was a center of activity on June 15, 2012, when Nik Wallenda walked across Niagara Falls. The positive atmosphere at the Old Falls Street Side Show was a wonderful way to kick-off the summer season in Niagara USA, and Buffalo Niagara Even Professionals (BNEP) has recognized this with a nomination for its "People Choice Award".
Those who weren't able to reserve a ticket to the Wallenda Walk at Niagara Falls enjoyed the carnival-like setting on Old Falls Street, and watched the walk LIVE on two jumbo screens. Old Falls Street Side Show was a day of festivities including mini-tightrope walks, and aerial performers from Charm City Movement. Sixty members of Deep Roots Niagara were also in the street entertaining passersby. Performances included acrobatics, improvisational and cultural dance, juggling, stilt walking and unicycling, hula hoop tricks, puppeteering, mime techniques, and more. Families enjoyed the petting zoo, as well as live music, carnival food and beverages. More than 25 local merchandise vendors also set up shop.
All activities were FREE and the extensive list of family-friendly entertainment planned throughout the day helped mark this momentous occasion in the history books.
BNEP "People Choice Award" will be given to the event that receives the most votes by 5pm on September 28. BNEP Members can vote up to three times, non-members get one vote per email.
BNEP "People Choice Award" is a highly competitive, local competition. Past winners include the National Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival and Ride for Roswell. Spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, and more. Remember to vote now and vote often, here. Look for "Side Show Celebrating Nik Wallenda".
