Watch Wallenda and 'Stain the Hurricane'

Thompson’s Waterseal, the company responsible for protecting the wooden decks and other structures inNiagara FallsState Park, is sponsoring a contest for one individual to re“deck”orate the Hurricane Deck at the Cave of the Winds.  The winner will choose the next color of deck stain to be used on the Hurricane Deck for the 2013 season.  The winner will also receive a trip for two toNiagara Fallsto see the results of their selection in person.

From May to September, more than 350,000 people visit the Cave of the Winds clad in complimentary souvenir ponchos and sandals.  The wooden walkways allow visitors to experience the fury of the rushing water, while the Hurricane Deck brings guests just 20 feet away fromBridal Veil Falls. 

During the fall and winter months, a crew from Thompson’s Waterseal deconstructs the connecting decks and stairways which, if left in place during the harsh winter, would be crushed by ice.  In the spring, the crew rebuilds the deck and structure using fresh lumber coated with Thompson's^® WaterSeal^® Deck & House Solid Latex Waterproofing Stain.

The contest winner will choose from one of  16 shades stain including Arbor Green, Black Walnut, Brickstone, Bronzed Brown, Cedartone, Cocoa, Colonial Blue, Cypress Green, Douglas Fir, Evergreen, Hawthorne, Hickory Ash, Olive Wood, Pewter Gray, Sierra Brown or Terra Cotta.  The colors can be viewed online at Thompson’s Waterseal website or Facebook page.

The sweepstakes are open to individuals 18 years or older who are residents of theUnited Statesand theDistrict of Columbia.  The grand prize trip includes airfare toBuffalo,NY, lodging for four nights, a rental car for five days, and $1,000 spending money.

The Sweepstakes begins on May 1, 2012 and ends on September 3, 2012.  The winner will be selected in a random drawing around September 5, 2012.  Participants can enter on the Thompson’s Waterseal Facebook page at www.facebook.com/thompsonswaterseal.com.
